Reasons Why People Don't Commit Suicide

1. They're afraid their last words will be their epitaph, and the last e-mail they sent consisted solely of the letters "LOL."

2. They could afford the gun but not the bullets.

3. They don't know how many pills it would take to do the job and they don't want to end up alive and in a vegetative state.

4. They're afraid some other car will come across their path as they're aiming for the mountain wall.

5. The landlord might not refund their security deposit to their survivors, because of the permanent bloodstains on the hardwood floors.

6. They're afraid their body won't be discovered for several days --- as occurred following the suicide of one of the Dionne Quintuplets --- and their beautiful corpse will be half-eaten by their cute little pets.

7. They're afraid their soul might have to hang around and listen to the comments of the few people who attend their funeral. They're afraid that the only people who attend the funeral will be people who loved them the most and whose feelings were not reciprocated by the deceased.

8. They're afraid that they will be remembered for the way they died and not how they lived.

9. They're afraid that they won't do it right the first time and will wake up the next day and have to face everything all over again.

10. They know they're cowards who are afraid of life. And they're afraid they're too cowardly to face death, too.

  1. How about:

    11. As long as there seems to be no remedy in sight, then I'd rather bear the immense pain of fighting my demons--alone, than to cause those who love and respect me to feel it, too--after I pulled the trigger.
